Studio portrait of 4729 Private (Pte) Charles Norman Kenny, 19th Battalion from Ryde, NSW. A 24 year old clerk prior to enlisting on 5 January 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 12th Reinforcements from Sydney on 13 April 1916 aboard HMAT Ceramic. He was wounded in action near Bullecourt, France on 3 May 1917 and died later that same day. Pte Kenny is buried in the Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
