Studio portrait of 483 Private (Pte) Norman Clive Clarke Koina, 36th Battalion, of Inverell, NSW. A 23 year old carpenter prior to enlisting on 21 January 1916, he embarked for overseas service with B Company from Sydney aboard HMAT Beltana (A72) on 13 May 1916. After disembarking in England, he proceeded to France in November 1916. Pte Koina was killed in action on 7 December 1916 near Armentieres, France and is buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres.
