Description

Studio portrait of 2712 Private (Pte) Julius Laycock, 10th Battalion from Glenelg, South Australia. A 31 year old monumental mason prior to enlisting in the AIF on 30 July 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 6th Reinforcements of the 27th Battalion from Adelaide, South Australia on 27 October 1915 aboard HMAT Benalla. After joining the 10th Battalion on 28 February 1916, he was killed in action on 23 July 1916 at Pozieres, France. Pte Laycock is buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La-Boisselle.
