Studio portrait of 3168 Private (Pte) David Ray (Ray) Leed, 23rd Battalion. A farmer from Central Mologa, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Leed embarked with the 7th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Commonwealth on 26 November 1915. Later transferring to the 58th Battalion and then to the 57th Battalion, he was killed in action at Pozieres, France, aged 22 and was buried in the Rue-Du-Bois Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
