Studio portrait of 61 Private Hugh Alphonsus Leffler, 9th Company Australian Machine Gun Corps, of Forrest Lodge, NSW. Son of Ambrose Augustus and Mabel Ann Frances Leffler, Kogarah, NSW. A printer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Benalla (A40) on 1 May June 1916. He was killed accidentally on 3 December 1916 at Square Farm, Armentieres, France, aged 23. He is buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery Armentieres, France.
