Studio portrait of 3796 Private (Pte) Hermann Carl Lehmann, 10th Battalion from Wilmington, South Australia. A 24 year old grazier prior to enlisting on 12 August 1915, he embarked for overseas service with the 12th Reinforcements from Adelaide, South Australia aboard RMS Malwa on 2 December 1915. After disembarking in Egypt, he proceeded to France with the 10th Battalion in March 1916 and was reported missing in action on 25 July 1916. He was later reported to have been killed in action at Pozieres, France and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
