Studio portrait of 7591 Private Robert Miller (Miller) Leslie, 51st Battalion. A shipping clerk of Fremantle, WA. Private Miller was killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux, 24 April 1918, aged 22. The verso is inscribed 'To Mother & Father/ with true love/ from/ Miller/ 17/3/18. In response to a call for portraits of those who died as a result of service, Mrs Miller submitted this portrait to the Department of Defence as a gift to a future war museum [Australian War Memorial].
