Studio portrait of 2245 Private (Pte) John James Lillis, 3rd Reinforcements, 37th Battalion, 10th Infantry Brigade, of Outtrim, Vic. He enlisted on 23 May 1916 and embarked on HMAT Shropshire from Melbourne on 25 September 1916. Pte Lillis was killed in action on 8 June 1917 in Belgium. He is commemorated on panel 29 The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.
