Description

Studio portrait of 6854 Private (Pte) George Sylvester Lynall, 28th Battalion from Boulder City, Western Australia. A 31 year old electro-plater prior to enlisting on 13 February 1917, he embarked for overseas service with the 20th Reinforcements from Fremantle, Western Australia aboard HMAT Borda (A30) on 29 June 1917. Following further training in England, he proceeded to join the 28th Battalion in Belgium in November and later also served in France where he was killed in action at Beaurevoir on 3 October 1918. Pte Lynall is buried in the Bellicourt British Cemetery, north east of St Quentin, France. His brother, 3328 Pte Frank Edgar Parkes Lynall, 5th Battalion was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 25 July 1916 [see image H06349].
