Studio portrait of 3405 Private (Pte) Norman Roy Lynch, 11th Battalion. An engine driver from Kalgoorlie, WA prior to enlistment, Pte Lynch embarked with the 11th Reinforcements from Fremantle on HMAT Ulysses on 2 November 1915. Later transferring to the 3rd Machine Gun Company he was killed in action at Pozieres on 23 July 1916, aged 25 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. His father 3676 Pte Terrence Lynch served with the 51st Battalion and returned to Australia on 1 February 1918.
