Description
Studio portrait of 1147 (later 1290) Corporal (Cpl) Dugald Dalroy (Roy) MacPherson, 4th Battalion form Balranald, NSW. A 26 year old bank accountant prior to enlisting on 16 October 1914, he embarked for overseas with the 1st Reinforcements from Melbourne on 22 December 1914 aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32). While serving at Gallipoli, he was wounded in action on 1 May and evacuated to Egypt for medical treatment. Cpl MacPherson died of his wounds on 20 May 1915 and was buried in the Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
