Description

Studio portrait of 3223 Private (Pte) Clive Ferdinand Mann, 54th Battalion from Cape Hawke, NSW. A 21 year old fisherman prior to enlisting on 14 October 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 8th Reinforcements from Sydney on 11 November 1916 aboard HMAT Suevic. After a short period of illness and further training in England, he joined the battalion in France. Ten days later, on 23 May 1917, Pte Mann was killed in action near Bullecourt. He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
