Studio portrait of 413 Sergeant Lionel Marcus Bernard Marks, 13th Battalion from St Kilda, Victoria. A 32 year old indent agent prior to enlisting in the AIF on 22 September 1914, he embarked for overseas as a Corporal with D Company from Melbourne on 22 December 1914 aboard HMAT Ulysses. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 3 May 1915 and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
