Studio portrait of 19926 Driver Colin McArthur, 8th Field Artillery Brigade, 31st Battery from Perth, Western Australia. A 26 year old grocer's assistant prior to enlisting on 27 January 1916, he embarked for overseas from Melbourne on 20 May 1916 aboard HMAT Medic. After a short period of illness in hospital in England, he joined the battery in France and was later wounded in action on 5 July 1917 near Messines, Belgium. Whilst being treated for his wounds, he was killed in an enemy air raid two days later. Driver McArthur is buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension (Nord), France.
