Studio portrait of 479 Private (Pte) Michael Joseph Mansfield McKinnirey, 1st Battalion from Glebe Point, NSW. A 25 year old driver prior to enlisting on 22 August 1914, he embarked for overseas with D Company from Sydney on 18 October 1914 aboard HMAT Afric. Pte McKinnirey landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and was killed in action on 6 May 1915. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli, Turkey with others who have no known grave.
