Studio portrait of 6328 Private (Pte) James Albert McNay, 14th Battalion from Burnley, Victoria. A 28 year old baker prior to enlisting on 19 January 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 20th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 7 September 1916 aboard HMAT Port Sydney. After joining the 14th Battalion in France in January 1917, he was wounded in action at Bullecourt and died of his wounds nine days later, on 16 April 1917. Pte McNay is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
