Description
Studio portrait of 3822 Private Albert John Mugford, 10th Battalion from Murray Bridge, South Australia. A 20 year old railway cleaner prior to enlisting in the AIF on 6 August 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 12th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 2 December 1915 aboard RMS Malwa. While serving on the Western Front, he was killed in action at Petillon, France on 23 July 1916 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France with others who have no known grave.
