Studio portrait of 2023 Private (Pte) Andrew William Parker, 55th Battalion. A labourer from Bredbo, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Parker embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Barambah on 23 June 1916. On 2 October 1917 following his transfer to the 35th Battalion, he died aged 19, of wounds received in action. Following the Armistice his grave could not be located and he is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
