Studio portrait of 5101 Private (Pte) Edward Hunt Paten, 25th Battalion. A jackeroo from Brisbane, Qld prior to enlistment, Pte Paten embarked with the 13th Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Seang Choon on 4 May 1916. Initially transferring to the 31st Battalion, he was later transferred to the 49th Battalion and promoted to Lance Corporal. On 15 July 1917 he was killed in action in Flanders, aged 21 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
