Studio portrait of 5668 Private (Pte) John Edward Price, 23rd Battalion. A labourer from Collingwood, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Price embarked with the 15th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Shropshire on 25 September 1916. On 25 March 1917 he died, aged 39, from wounds received in action at Lagnicourt, France and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension.
