Studio portrait of 2035 Corporal (Cpl) Harry Roy Quin MM, 6th Field Company Engineers from North Carlton, Victoria. A 26 year old carpenter prior to enlisting on 12 July 1915, he embarked for overseas as a Private with the 3rd Reinforcements from Melbourne on 26 August 1915 aboard HMAT Anchises. While serving on the Western Front, he was awarded a Military Medal (MM) for bravery at Mouquet Farm, France on 26 August 1916 and promoted to Lance Corporal in October 1916 and to Corporal in April 1917. After being wounded in action at Bullecourt, France on 4 May 1917, he was evacuated for medical treatment to Rouen, France where he died of wounds on 6 July 1917. Cpl Quin is buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.
