Studio portrait of 1616 Private (Pte) Frank Brassey Robertson, 2nd Battalion from Mudgee, NSW. An 18 year old farmer prior to enlisting on 12 November 1914, he embarked for overseas with the 3rd Reinforcements from Sydney on 11 February 1915 aboard HMAT Seang Choon. While serving at Gallipoli, he was wounded in action on 24 June 1915 and evacuated to Egypt for medical treatment. After returning to Gallipoli two months later, he fell ill in October and was again evacuated. He proceeded to France with the 2nd Battalion in March 1916 and was wounded in action in July. After receiving treatment in England, he re-joined the battalion five months later. On the third occasion of being wounded, near Corbie, France, his wounds proved to be fatal and he died the next day, on 29 December 1916. Pte Robertson is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, France.
