Description

Studio portrait of 6615 Driver (Dvr) John Henry Spark, 4th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) from Collingwood, Victoria. A 25 year old bootmaker prior to enlisting on 10 May 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 11th Battery from Melbourne on 18 November 1915 aboard HMAT Wiltshire. He joined the 4th FAB in Egypt in December 1915 and deployed with them to France in March 1916. Dvr Spark was accidentally wounded near Aveluy, France on 10 June 1917 and died of his wounds the next day. He is buried in the Communal Cemetery Extension Dernancourt, France.
