Vunapope, New Britain. Five nuns seated in a jeep trailer during their evacuation from the Mission in Ramale Valley to Rabaul. Contact with the internees was made by Allied troops and represenatives of the Australian Red Cross following the surrender of the Japanese. Identified, left to right: unidentified; Sister (Sr) Hermengildas MSC (German), holding an umbrella; Sr Bernadine (Dutch); Mother Martha (Dutch); Sr Flavia (Australian).
