Studio portrait of 31847 Gunner (Gnr) Richard Lloyd Temple, 5th Medium Trench Mortar Battery, from Nyngan, NSW. An 18 year old station manager prior to enlistment on 17 October 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 5th Reinforcements of the Medium Trench Mortar Battery from Sydney on 2 December 1916 aboard HMAT Orsova. He died on 3 May 1917 at the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station from wounds received at Bullecourt, France. Gnr Temple is buried in the Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
