Studio portrait of 2511 Private (Pte) Owen Stanley Tolman, 26th Battalion from Hobart, Tasmania. A 23 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 21 July 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 5th Reinforcements from Brisbane on 5 October 1915 aboard HMAT Warilda. On arrival in France, he joined the 26th Battalion and was wounded at the Battle of Pozieres, dying from his wounds on 10 August 1916. Pte Tolman is buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery, France.
