Studio portrait of 294 Able Seaman (AB) William George Vincent Williams, No 4 Company, Royal Australian Naval Reserve from Northcote, Victoria. Willliams, at the age of 28, died of wounds on 11 September 1914 at Rabaul, Papua New Guinea and is buried in the Rabaul (Bita Paka) War Cemetery. AB Williams was the first recorded Australian casualty of the First World War.
