Description
Studio portrait of 2160 Private (Pte) Reginald Arthur Wood, 38th Battalion from Middle Park, Victoria. A 28 year old railway porter prior to enlisting on 2 March 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 3rd Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Shropshire (A9) on 25 September 1916. While serving on the Western Front with the 10th Light Trench Mortar Battery, he was killed in action at Messines, France and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium with others who have no known grave.
