Studio portrait of 2481 Lance Corporal John Ralph Wright, 60th Battalion from Brunswick, Victoria. A 22 year old piano tuner prior to enlistment on 22 April 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements of the 5th Battalion from Melbourne on 16 July 1915 aboard HMAT Demosthenes. After serving at Gallipoli, he went on to serve in France where he was killed in action on 19 July 1916. He is commemorated on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France.
