Description
An Indian Army guard on duty outside one of the buildings during the period of the Boxer Rebellion. By the beginning of 1901, the British were planning on withdrawing the majority of their Indian Army troops from North China and so the Australian Colonial governments were asked if their contingents could stay in China until the northern spring.
