Description
Nerang, Queensland. 1944-08-14. A Sherman M4 medium tank T263413 (later named ‘the Stag’) being moved from a creek while en route to the test track. This tank was participating in tropical trials in Australia. The tank was manufactured with a fully welded hull, unike the other M4 in the test. At this stage of the tests the tank retains its front track mudguard. Later photographs show this removed. The tank has applique armour on side sponsons and in front of the driver’s and radio operator’s positions.
