Description

Collection relating to YMCA Representative and Commissioner, Algernon Arthur 'Ack' Way. Comprises a typed transcription of Way's diary kept during 1940 and 1941, including supplementary notes additional to the diary and concerning the convoy trip from England to Tewfik, Egypt. Also includes a one page typed account titled 'An interesting story of representative Sam Watson who is serving the troops on one front of the Middle East', subtitled 'Syrian Campaign' and dated 18 June 1941. Added to this collection in 2010 were three foolscap pages of typed diary notes from Way's YMCA work overseas during 1916 and 1917, a typed letter from the YMCA of Australasia to Way after his return to Australia in 1919, and sixteen photographs of Way and other YMCA Representatives, including a portrait of Way in uniform dated 1916.
