Informal portrait of Major General (Maj Gen) James Gordon Legge CB CMG on board the transport RMS Mooltan. He is wearing a uniform made of stretch woollen fabric; the trousers, with bottoms that attach firmly to the shoes, are known as overalls. Maj Gen Legge was General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 2nd Division while on the Gallipoli Peninsula; afterwards he was Chief of General Staff in Australia.
