Collection relating to Sister Frances May Hayman who ran the Missionary Hospital in Gona until her death at the hands of the Japanese in 1942.
[item 1] Original handwritten letter by May Hayman to her sister Violet Waterman, dated 4 August 1942. She describes her flight from the Japanese. Includes envelope.

[item 3] Original handwritten letter from the Bishop of New Guinea to Violet Waterman, May Hayman's sister, dated 20/11/1942. The letter gives news of May's death and details of her work in New Guinea.
