Cotton, Frederick Sidney (Wing Commander, b.1894 - d.1969) OBE
Description
Correspondence, papers and photographs relating to Wing Commander Sidney Cotton's pre war and wartime experiences with the Photographic Development Unit (PDU). Notes include subjects such as reorganising the PDU and the RAF, as well as design requirements for high speed reconnaissance planes. Correspondents include Lord Beaverbrook, Lord Dowding, Ernest Bevin, Sir Sholto Douglass, Clement Atlee, Geoffrey Tuttle and others. Included are numerous reconnaissance photographs taken over occupied Europe, accompanied by notes and diagrams.
