Description
Notebook consisting of Russian-English vocabulary compiled by Captain John Thornbury McCallum during his captivity in Zentsuji POW Camp, Shikoku, Japan. Collection also includes a certificate of proficiency in the Russian language and a photograph of a portrait sketch of Captain McCallum. The sketch was drawn by Lieut J de Vries, Netherlands East Indies Army. A typed transcript of Captain McCallum's diary is also included; the diary has been has been translated from shorthand to longhand.
