Description

Collection relating to VX5554 Sergeant Albert James McDonald, who served with 2/7th Battalion in Greece, Second World War. Collection consists of a platoon roll book maintained by McDonald, written in a light brown covered 1932 Palestine Office Diary, of around 70 pages. The roll book contains personal and military details for members of No 9 Platoon. The roll book was lost during the evacuation from Greece and was later returned to Australia by Greek citizens in 1966. It includes photographs of many of the soldiers. McDonald later served in New Guinea where he lost his life.
