Description
Manuscript titled `AIRIND in retrospect: a RAAF contribution to Allied Intelligence 1942-1945'. Describes the establishment and operations of Air Industry Section, an Allied Research Intelligence unit which later became a branch of the Military Intelligence Service of the U.S. War Department General Staff. AIRIND derived and disseminated information on the Japanese aircraft industry, its' principal source of data being the makers' plates from crashed and captured aircraft. Includes brief biographical account of Wing Commander N.B. Tindale, and mentions post-war trip to Japan and Washington with the United States Strategic Bombing Survey.
