Fisher, Peter Wallace (Captain b.1916)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX145642 Captain Peter Wallace Fisher, who served as Second in Command, Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Military Landing Craft Section (AA/AAMLC) in Rabaul as part of Lark Force. Collection consists of the original and two photocopies, one of which contains additions, of his typescript memoirs written upon his return to Australia in 1942. It describes his escape from Rabaul, including the Tol massacre and his rescue off Palmalmal. Fisher was one of just seven, of the 53 officers and men of that unit to survive the Japanese assault on Rabaul in early 1942.
