Collection relating to service of Acting Commander Thomas Wyburn Biddlecombe, Royal Navy. Collection includes copies of condolence letters relating to the death of Biddlecombe when in command of Q27 which was sunk by a German submarine, 13 March 1917. Copies made by Australian War Memorial 1927. Location of originals unknown.

Biographical note: Commander Thomas Wyburn Biddlecombe, Royal Australian Navy (lent to RN), HMS 'Q27'. Killed in action with submarine off west coast of Ireland, 13 March 1917. Age 36. Son of William and Amelia Biddlecombe, of Swallowfield, Reading, England; husband of Gertrude Mary Biddlecombe, of 50 Leopold St., South Yarra, Victoria, Australia
