Chote, Keith (Sergeant, b.1920 - d.1942)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War services of 405542 Sergeant Keith Gilbert Chote, 13 Squadron, and PM4100 Able Seaman Russel Martin Caro, HMAS Armidale, 1942.
The collection conists of a single message written by Sergeant Chole and dropped by Hudson aircraft along with food and water to the survivors of the HMAS Armidale eight days after it was sunk by Japanese aircraft on 1 December 1942. The message was collected by Caro, one of the 43 surviving crew of the Armidale, and lets the survivors know that help is on the way, and wishes them the best of luck.
