Collection relating to service of 1812 Private Allan Archibald Fletcher, 14 Battalion, Egypt and France, 1915-1916. Collection includes photostat copy of Fletcher's diary 29 December 1915 - 14 March 1916 describing time at camp in Egypt and sightseeing. Copies made by Australian War Memorial, Melbourne, 1928. Location of originals unknown.

History / Summary

Biographical note: 1812 Private A.A. Fletcher, 14th Battalion, A.I.F., who on 18 September 1918 was killed in action at Mont. St. Quentin. Other biographical details concerning him are: foreman packer, of Collingwood, Victoria, born Collingwood; educated at Flinders Street State School, Geelong, Victoria, and at Geelong West State School; enlisted in the A.I.F. on 17 July 1915; age at time of death, 30.

Three brothers - G.F. Fletcher, H.G. Fletcher, and J.N. Fletcher served with the A.I.F., and survived the war.
