Description
Collection relating to service of Lieutenant Henry Allen, 3 Battalion, Lone Pine, 1915. Collection includes a typewritten condolence letter written by Brigadier General N. M. Smyth to Allen's mother describing his fatal wounding at Lone Pine, 7 August 1915 and a carbon copy of letter written by the Australian War Memorial to Mrs F Duncan (his sister) requesting the donation of any relics related to Allen.

Biographical note: 2nd Lieutenant Henry Allen, 3 Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died of wounds, Gallipoli, 7 August 1915. Age 39. Son of Samuel and Sarah Allen. Native of Fenton, Staffs, England. Served with the Scottish Rifles and Scottish Horse in the Boer War.
