Collection includes original letters and a diary written by Trooper Jackson, letters to Jackson from his uncle Edward J. Steane, and two condolence letters sent to Jackson's mother in Australia.

Biographical note: 164 Trooper Pelham Steane Jackson, 11 Light horse Regiment, AIF, who died on 19 April 1917 of wounds received at Gaza, Palestine. Other biographical details concerning him are: book keeper of Kyuna, North Queensland, born Grace Park, Hawthorn, Victoria, educated at Scotch College, Melbourne; enlisted in the AIF on 16 January 1915; age at time of death, 27 years 5 months.
