Collection relating to the service of 569A Private George Arthur Armes, 28 Battalion, England, 1916. Collection includes photographs of the departure of 44 Battalion from Fremantle, WA, and postcards written by Armes to his wife, Lilian, from training camps in England. Postcards are scenes of Cape Town; London; Plymouth, and Salisbury.
Biographical note: 569A Private George Arthur Armes, 28 Battalion Australian Infantry. Killed in action, France, 3 November 1916. Age 33. Son of Isaac and Alice Armes; husband of Lilian Armes, of 149 Palmerston St., Perth, Western Australia. Native of Middlesbrough, England.
