Collection consists of photostat copies of nineteen letters written by Private Archie Mackay to various members of his family, between November 1914 and April 1915. Wallet 1 of 1 – Photostats of letters relating to the First World War service of 313 Private Archie Graham Mackay, 15 Battalion, AIF.
Wallet contains nineteen photostats of letters written by Private Archie Mackay to various members of his family, between November 1914 and April 1915. The letters describe life at Broadmeadows training camp and local conditions at Heliopolis and Alexandria including visits to the Pyramids and several mosques. Private Mackay's last letter was written while on board a troopship bound for Gallipolli, dated Saturday 17 April 1915. He was killed in action at Quinn's Post on 9/10 May 1915.
