Description
Collection relating to the service of Sub Lieutenant (later Captain) Henry Hastings McWilliam, Royal Navy. Collection consists of a typescript carbon copy of a diary kept by Captain McWilliam when serving as an acting Sub Lieutenant with HMAS Australia, between July 1914 and January 1915. Pasted throughout the diary are twelve photographic reproductions of maps, shipping diagrams, diagrams of several German ships. A copy of the diary is held by the Imperial War Museum, London.
