Leggett, William Thomas (Corporal, b.1891 - d.1914)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2880 Corporal William Thomas Leggett, 1st Life Guards, Corps of Household Cavalry, British Army. Collection consists of material relating to Leggett's pre-war employment in Goulburn and Sydney; and to his death at Poelcapelle in Belgium, while serving with a British Cavalry Regiment on 14 October 1914. Other papers relate to the disposal of his personal effects and his grave. Leggett was one of first Australian to be killed in action during the First World War. Added to the collection in November 2014 is a typed manuscript entitled 'Corporal William Thomas Leggett', written by Des Akers.
