Biographical note: 340 Lance Corporal Arthur Hurtle Morphett, 32 Battalion, AIF, who on 20 July 1916 was killed in action during the Battle of Fromelles. Other biographical details are: Farmer and grazier of Woods Point Estate, Murray Bridge, South Australia; born Adelaide; educated at St. Peter's Collegiate School and at Roseworthy Agricultural College; became a manager of a diary farm at Warrnambool, Victoria and later manager and part owner of Woods Point, SA; enlisted in the AIF on 23 June 1915; age at time of death, 38. Son of John Cummins Morphett and Mary Frances Morphett, of Cummins, Glenelg, South Australia.
