Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2562 Lieutenant James Murray Connor MC, 2 Battalion. Collection consists of 6 original letters written by Murray to various family members during 1915-1916. the letters describe Lemnos, the harbour and ships in Egypt, being the firing line at Gallipoli, water and ration parties, the rugged nature of the terrain, the snow in November, fleas, and mail. One letter describes the evacuation from Gallipoli in detail. Also included is a photocard and empty envelope.
